An evening of Swedish and Japanese music

Earlier this year I received an e-mail about playing at a dinner during the MIRAI seminar 2019, connecting Japanese and Swedish universities. On the 12th November I played in the gorgeous building of Norrland nation in central Uppsala.

There were several universities from Sweden and Japan and it felt very special that two of the universities, one Swedish and one Japanese, where I studied were attending the dinner.

My choice of tunes were based on the connection between Sweden and Japan. The first tunes were Swedish traditional tunes followed by a tune “Norr till söder” (North to south) I made when I lived in Japan. But the last tune I played and sang will stay in my memory for a long time. I finished my program with the famous song “Furusato” which I sang in Japanese and Swedish. When you could hear that voice by voice was added to my singing, it was a magical moment and I myself got goosebumps.

I would like to thank the organizers for arranging such a wonderful evening and I had a great meeting and exchange some words with the universities I previously studied at!

Thank you! ありがとうございます!

PS. For you who are curious about the tune “Norr till söder” there is a possiblity to listen to it here where I am playing it with a Japanse percussionist.
